Kate Weiss - Special Projects Coordinator

Kate Weiss

Special Projects Coordinator | Binc Foundation

Kate got her start in bookselling as a frontline bookseller at the Penguin Bookshop in Sewickley, Pennsylvania in 2008 and has been in the industry ever since. She has at one point or another done just about every job in the bookstore including director, consultant, buyer, events coordinator, inventory manager, emergency toilet plunger, bat wrangler, and marketing manager. She was the events and marketing manager at PW Bookstore of the Year Carmichael’s Bookstore and has also worked in publishing as the assistant trade sales manager at Chelsea Green Publishing.

From 2018 to 2020 she was Binc’s communication coordinator and now serves as special projects coordinator. She believes that one cannot own too many books and that the way to keep bookstores thriving is by providing this vital financial safety net for the people who work there.

Kate is also an avid seamstress and is proud of her volunteer work as a Master Clothing Volunteer representing Jefferson County, Kentucky and teaching sewing to students across the county. She lives with her husband, Michael, and their son, Henry, in Louisville, Kentucky.
