Higher Education Scholarships

The Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation makes a positive impact in the lives of booksellers by offering higher education scholarships. Applications are accepted during the first months of each calendar year.

Professional Development Scholarships

Binc works to ensure the future of healthy bookstores by encouraging the continuing education of the owners and employees.

ABA Children’s Institute

Selected in partnership with the American Booksellers Association (ABA), the Binc Foundation offers scholarships to cover room, meals and travel expenses. The scholarship winners are selected by the ABA and their names provided to Binc. The current ABA rules and regulations apply for these selections.

ABA Winter Institute

Selected in partnership with the American Booksellers Association, the Binc Foundation offers scholarships to cover room, meals and travel expenses. The scholarship winners are selected by the ABA and their names provided to Binc. The current ABA rules and regulations apply for these selections.

Book Expo

In conjunction with the American Booksellers Association, the Binc Foundation offers scholarships to help cover room, meals and travel expenses. Rules and regulations for these selections will be announced in the spring of the year.

Macmillan Booksellers Professional Development Scholarship

The Macmillan Booksellers Professional Development Scholarship aims to strengthen the industry by encouraging a greater number of individuals from underrepresented groups to choose and/or continue careers in bookselling. The scholarship allows one bookseller to attend each of the fall regional trade shows. Rules and regulations for these selections are announced each summer.

Regional Trade Shows

Scholarships to help cover room, meals and travel expenses to the regional Independent Bookseller Association (IBA) Fall Conferences are offered by the Foundation.* The scholarship winners are selected by each regional IBA and their names provided to Binc. All current regional IBA rules and regulations apply for these selections.

*  These scholarships are provided for where available. Not all regional IBAs offer a scholarship program. Check with your regional IBA.
