Book Expo America was the perfect stage for Binc to bring the message of emergency assistance directly to book store employees. The Javits Center in New York was jammed with booksellers from across the country, the very people that Binc is here to serve. This year, with the help of the American Booksellers Association and Publishers Group West, the connection between Binc and the store employees was made stronger.
Binc was invited to set up a table in the ABA Bookseller’s Lounge and have a quiet spot for booksellers to rest and find out more about the programs of the Foundation. Binc used this opportunity to connect with not just bookstores, but regional IBA leadership and other industry representatives as well. In the always hectic days of BEA, it was great to have a quiet space to focus on business. Thanks to Oren, Dan and the entire ABA group.
While the lounge may have been a quiet escape, the PGW Party was anything but low-key. Having heard that this was “the” party to attend, Binc was more than thrilled to be chosen as the designated charity. Attendees danced the night away to the songs of The Pimps of Joytown. Conversation was rather challenging, so for next year (that’s right, they have invited us back in 2014!) we will have to figure out an alternate method of communication. Binc was happy to be seen, remind booksellers that we are here to help and even raise a little money. Thanks to Anne Kubek and Susan Yeager for helping out at this event.
