What was the mission of this campaign?

The mission was to infuse independent comic stores across the country with some of the financial support they need to remain viable while they are forced to shutter their doors during the COVID-19 pandemic.  


I just learned about this store assistance and missed the deadline. Can I still apply?

The final day to apply was April 27th.


When will comic shops receive funds?

Grants were distributed in May.


The assistance was not enough, can I apply for more?

At this time there are no plans to repeat this effort. However, booksellers and comic retailers may apply to Binc for assistance for personal hardship.


Are funds made payable to the bookstore owner?

No; funds will be made payable to the business entity, not to a person.


How are/were the amounts of assistance calculated?                    

Funds will be distributed in proportion to a store’s sales. (The goal here is to contribute toward replacing lost sales, use a fair method to determine distribution, and ensure that stores get funds corresponding to their need.)


Are these grants taxable?

Since the checks will be written to the business entity all grants are taxable income. You will need to check with your tax professional.


I need help for my own housing payments. Am I allowed to apply
for a store grant AND an individual grant with Binc?

Yes, you can apply for an individual grant as well as a store grant.
