Binc Recognizes Departing Board Members

thank-youAs we say goodbye to 2014, we also have to say goodbye to three exceptional Board members who have completed their terms. These three women have been instrumental in supporting the Binc Foundation from the beginning. Their involvement with attending events, recruiting volunteers, assisting with technical jobs, and helping to plan a sustainable future has greatly advanced the mission of the Foundation to assist booksellers in need. It is not an exaggeration to say that we would not be where we are today without their hard work. Please join us in recognizing their vision, celebrating their accomplishments and thanking them for their service to the board of directors.

Lisa Smola-Hollo – Board President

Lisa has served her board term and will be exiting the board and Communication and Marketing committee. Lisa joined the Foundation board in 2009 as secretary, and has served as President since 2010. Lisa has generously given her time and leadership to transition the Foundation to its new mission.

Lisa has been instrumental in forming the current strategic direction that focuses the Foundation on becoming sustainable and a support for booksellers for the long-term. Lisa is always ready to volunteer and represent the Foundation to volunteers, donors and vendors. She also recruited family members, on various occasions, to support the Foundation, and we pass along our thanks to them as well. Thank you, Lisa.

Jennifer Sobocinski – Board Member

Jenn joined the Foundation board in 2010 and played a crucial role in creating the initial social media presence for the Foundation. She capitalized on her technological resources and the talents of her husband, Todd, to design and launch the Foundation website.

Many thanks go to Jenn for her commitment and leadership over these past four years. She helped the Foundation evolve from a one-company focused charity into an industry-wide organization. And as chair of the Communication and Marketing committee she provided essential guidance to ensure the Foundation achieved its new mission. We can’t say goodbye to Jenn without also thanking her for her amazing organizational skills that played such a big part in the success of the Foundation’s golf outing fundraisers. Thank you, Jenn.

Rianan Ozaeta – Board Member

Rianan joined the Binc board in 2011 and has served on the Fundraising and Programs committees. From her first day as a volunteer at the annual golf outing Rianan never hesitated to jump in and help out. If there was work to be done, she was right there to pitch in no matter the task. She was one of the founding board members of Binc and helped the Foundation transition to its expanded mission.

Rianan also shared her technology expertise to create easy to use online fundraising tools. Rianan’s enthusiasm makes her the ultimate advocate of the Foundation, even representing Binc at a regional trade show near her home. Thank you, Rianan.

Please join the board and staff of Binc in thanking these outstanding ladies for their service.
